Nick Cardone, RCT

Counseling Therapist – Adventure Counseling

First and foremost, I am a partner and father living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with an immense love of moving through our wide open, wild and natural spaces.  Doing so with my family and friends is one of the most joyous things I can think of doing.

Doing so with my clients comes a close second.  Combining the passion and skillset that comes with travelling by bike, canoe or on foot in the wilderness, with my path as a therapist is so incredibly rewarding, it is hard to put into words.  Adventure and Wilderness Therapy, with other experiential therapies, has led me to explore other highly meaningful ways of ‘doing’ therapy, especially with men and adolescents.

That said, I do not expect this way of working with my clients will work for everyone.  I hold weekly office hours at Sage Elements Naturopathic Clinic (Mondays from 930AM – 700PM).

Credentials-wise:

· Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists

·      Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association

·      Master of Education in Counselling (M.Ed.) from Acadia University

·      Member of the Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group with the Association for Experiential Education

As such, I adhere to a Code of Ethics and a Standards of Practice for the above organizations, and participate in regular professional development to ensure a current and solid foundation in the therapeutic offerings to my clients.

Finally, I have been working in Mental Health and Addictions settings for over 10 years. This work has seen me support people ranging in age, from early teens to older adults, helping them navigate through mental illness, life stress or other challenges.
